Addenbrooke’s Hospital has tonight been placed in “special measures” by health sector regulator Monitor after a damning report from the Care Quality Commission. The report labelled the hospital ‘inadequate” highlighting the flow of patients, delays in patient appointments and poor governance. Chief Executive Keith McNeil and Chief Finance Officer Paul James resigned last week after seeing a draft of the report. Monitor estimates that the hospital is now overspending by £1.2 million per week and has placed the hospital in special measures. By the end of the year the trust is expected for have a deficit of 64 million pounds.
