Cancer Perfect Storm

Scientists at Cancer Research UK in Cambridge have demonstrated, for the first time, that cancers are caused by a so-called ‘perfect storm’ of conditions. The study carried out in Cambridge and in the US, found that while cancers are more likely to start in stem cells, they also need to have accumulated DNA mistakes and tissue damage. The research could help to explain why some organs are more susceptible to cancer than others.
