A Cambridge author has been shortlisted for the 2016 Costa Book Awards. Guinevere Glasfurd is an Anglia Ruskin creative writing graduate. Her book, The Words in my Hand, is the reimagined true story of Helena, a 17th century Dutch maid desperate to educate herself and use her mind in an era when women were kept firmly in their place. It’s based on the relationship between philosopher Renee Descartes and Helena Jans. We spoke to her about the announcement.
