As we’ve already heard, Ada Lovelace Day has been celebrating the achievements of the English mathematician and writer, who worked on Babage’s early computer, The Analytical Engine. Her notes include the very first algorithm for the machine, leading her to be recognised as the world’s first computer programmer. Her work has also inspired generations of women in the field of science and technology. We’ve been speaking to scientist and local MP for South Cambridgeshire Heidi Allen about her inspiration and where she sees scientific women progressing in the future.
