Professor Rupert Bourne – Glaucoma

The number of people made blind due to glaucoma has risen by 62% in two decades. Research published by PLOS ONE also shows that the rise in the proportion of people with sight problems was more pronounced in high-income regions. Researchers from Anglia Ruskin University looked at data from studies carried out in countries worldwide between 1980 and 2012. Joining us in the studio is study lead Professor Rupert Bourne from Anglia Ruskin – who’s also a consultant eye surgeon specialising in glaucoma at Hinchinbrooke and Addenbrooke’s Hospitals.
