Sanger Heart Disease

Scientists at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute have discovered rare genetic variations that increase the risk of contracting heart and blood diseases. Using large genomic datasets they looked for rare genetic links to known risk factors for disease linked with smoking or diet. The team hope it will lead to medicines tailored to an individual’s genes.
